For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. 1 Cor. 4:20

When we gather together as believers in Jesus Christ, what do we expect? Are we getting together to make friends, and to strengthen existing friendships? Yes.

Are we getting together to be discipled and  to hear the Word of God from each other? Of course.

Are we anticipating a blessing by the supernatural power of God in our prayers for one another? That is our expectation.

But none of these things by themselves is our objective. Rather, our main objective is simply this:  to see the kingdom of God here on earth.

Jesus commanded us to pray for the kingdom of God to come to this planet:

“your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”  Matt. 6:10.

How do we know if our prayer for the kingdom to come have been answered? The Scriptures tell us:

For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.  I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." Matt. 16:27-28

The answer is, we'll know when Jesus shows up! It will be obvious. An army of angels will be with him. He will be dressed for war. He will destroy his enemies, and after that he will sit as judge and jury, rewarding the righteous and punishing the evil doers.  That’s what a king does in his kingdom.

This return of the King of Kings has been a long time coming.  We are patiently waiting for Jesus to come back.  But we don't have to wait for Jesus to come back to see the beginnings of the kingdom of God on this planet.

What's That Smell?

Have you ever asked yourself that question? Our nose is quite keen in picking up odors that give off a pleasant fragrance or an unpleasant stench. I was thinking about my upcoming trip to Ecuador this morning and the Lord brought me to a verse in 2 Corinthians 2: 14-17 “In Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation- an aroma redolent with life. But those on the way to destruction treat us more like the stench from a rotting corpse.“

Wow! Lord help me to give off the fragrance of Christ in all I say or do. Remove all the unpleasant smells that I hang on to that cause others not to see him in me. The theme God has been impressing on me for this trip is freedom, as in “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

Let us throw off all the religious ideas, take off the limits we place on God and believe in the mission Christ has called us to. I want to take a bath in God’s Holy Spirit and have that sweet aroma that is not only pleasing to him, but also brings the realization of his transforming power to others.

Editor's Note:  Ray is a founding member of the Heart of Titus board of directors and has been travelling with us since 2005.  Ray and Chuck Blystone will be heading back to Ecuador shortly.

Wednesday night was our first night of ministering. I preached in a church in Vinces where there was no pastor appointed yet, but was led by a group of leaders.

I preached on "Restoration" encouraging the people that God's will is to heal, prosper, and save our families. I gave the altar call and about 75% of the congregation came forward. After the service I was taken to Dr. Manuel’s house and there I spoke to worship leaders and prayed for them. There was about 20 in attendance.

Friday night I preached at Pastor Roberto Rios’ church in Santa Domingo. I was compelled again by the Spirit to preach on "Restoration."  I gave testimonies of Cindy's healing and also how God restored my daughter's marriage. When I gave the altar call there was a strong presence of the Lord, my translator Maria could not even translate because of such a heavy presence.

After several minutes of not being able to talk I began to minister to those who responded to the altar call. People were falling out in the Spirit. A woman came forward with her husband and said she was having a hard time trusting her husband because someone had told her that he had an affair with another woman, but the person who told her that came back later and said she lied. The wife still had her doubts so she went to a witch doctor to find out if he did have an affair. I had her pray a prayer of repentance and had her denounce her involvement with witchcraft, which caused the demons in her to manifest. I took authority over them in the Name of Jesus and she was set free. Her countenance changed from cold, angry, and withdrawn to joyful, loving and hugging her husband. Several were saved, and one was healed of a stomach condition.

Saturday afternoon I had a worship workshop with the worship leaders in participating churches in Santo Domingo. There were about 30 to 40 in attendance. To be honest I felt inadequate and intimidated because their style of music is different from ours. But I went ahead and taught on the heart of worship and afterward we worshipped together.

After the teaching I called them up so I could pray for them. The power of God was present, the gift of prophecy was operating and all the leaders went out in the Spirit except for a few. Praise God! After the service I sang a couple of songs in Spanish which they wanted to learn. It was a wonderful time getting around the keyboard and singing with them.

Editors note: This is part of Pastor Scott's journal from when he travelled as part of a Heart of Titus team to Ecuador in February, 2010.  This was Pastor Scott's 2nd trip to Ecuador.  He is a member of the Heart of Titus Board of Directors and pastors New Life Praise Worship Center in Apopka, Florida.

Praying for Travelers

We are planning to send a team to Ecuador in April.  The doors are wide open and we really want to go and be a blessing and encouragement to the churches there.  Ray Watson has agreed to lead the team but .... we have a problem.  We don't have anybody to travel with him.

We don't like sending people by themselves and it is generally our policy to have at least 2 people go together.  So Ray isn't going if we can't find the right person to go with him.

We're obviously going to be selective.  But we believe the Lord has just the right person.  Please pray with us that the Lord raises up someone quickly to join Ray.
