God loves to reveal secret things to us. In the Bible we read about King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. He had a dream he couldn’t understand, and he wanted someone to explain it to him. When Daniel heard about it, he and his friends fasted and prayed for God to show them the meaning of the king’s dream and the dream itself. As a result, God revealed it to Daniel.

When Daniel told Nebuchadnezzar what his dream was and explained it to him, the king was amazed and gave God the glory! He said to Daniel, “Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.” Daniel 2:47 NIV.

God is a revealer of mysteries and He wants to reveal His mysteries to you. We can also look at what God said to King Cyrus, “I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.” Isaiah 45:3 NIV. Is it just gold and silver God is talking about here, or could there be some hidden spiritual treasures waiting for us?

Jesus said to His disciples about His parables, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open.” Mark 4:21-22 NIV

Perhaps Jesus was talking about our secret sins, but I think He is talking about much more than that. I believe He wants us to know Him and His ways and how His Kingdom works. It pleases God to reveal these things to those who humbly seek them, but to conceal them from people who are wise in their own eyes. [Luke 10:21]

Many times Jesus said, “he who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Thankfully, by the Spirit of God we can hear and understand things that the smartest people in the world just can’t figure out. As the Apostle Paul wrote, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" – but God has revealed it to us by His Spirit.” 1 Cor.2:9-10 NIV84

There are mysteries hidden in the Word and there are secret gifts of grace in the people all around us. When Jesus chose some fishermen to follow him, the world saw only ordinary guys who had no education. But Jesus saw world changers! And that’s what they became. They were hidden treasures.

Jesus was a hidden treasure too. He is a king, but He hid His majesty from those who weren’t inclined to hear Him out. Until He chose to reveal Himself as the Risen Savior!

To receive the hidden things we must have ears to hear. We must also be faithful to dig deep into what He has already shown us, and then He will reveal even more. Jesus told a parable about a crafty business manager, who worked things out dishonestly for his own gain. In explaining this parable, Jesus said:

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?“ Luke 16:10-11 NIV

What are these true riches? Could they be a deeper revelation of God’s mysteries? Could it be a greater anointing to minister in God’s supernatural power? Could it be discovering some person who may seem like an ordinary Joe or Jane but turns out to be a mighty man or woman of God who will have a great impact on people’s lives for God’s glory?

God wants to trust you with the true riches, the revelation of His deep and secret things. I challenge you today to be faithful with the riches you have so that God will be pleased to give you the true riches of knowing Him, His ways and His people. God bless you and may we all have the joy of seeing God’s hidden treasures all around us!
