What Is Your Food? Will You Share It?

One day, the disciples came to Jesus and urged him to eat what they had prepared for him. But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” [John 4:32]. He basically told them they were ignorant of something that was very important to Him.

“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” [John 4:34]

Jesus had just finished a conversation with a woman who was drawing water at the well in Samaria. She was just going about her everyday life. He interrupted it, read her mail, so to speak, and showed her that He knew everything she ever did. He got her attention! She listened more closely, and in a very short time she came to believe that Jesus is the Savior of the world.

It is the will of God for us to talk to people - real people living their real lives - and tell them about who God is and His plan for all of us. He has commissioned us to do this, and in this way finish the work that God wants done.

Jesus went on to explain to His disciples:

Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” [John 4:35]

When Jesus tells us to OPEN OUR EYES and look at something, we should pay close attention. He wants us to look at the fields. They are ready. It’s not time to wait; it’s time to deliver the good news of God’s love and power to a world that’s dying, afraid, and living without hope!

What is your food? What makes you get up in the morning? Is it to do God’s Will? Jesus was so excited to do God’s will that doing it is what sustained Him.

Perhaps some of you have lost your zest for life because you have forgotten what God put you here for in the first place. Jesus said, “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” [Matthew 5:16]

So my friends, OPEN YOUR EYES to the people around you. They desperately need to know what God has revealed to you. Ask God for the wisdom and the grace to present it in a way that they can receive it.
